“Very few restorations make total sense financially.”

Also, so much this. After drowning my AutoX a few weekends back all I can think about now is how I can make it better. Big bore, XR200 cam, XR carb, straighten and brace the frame, etc. etc. etc.... It becomes an obsession, but it’s so worth it.

It does become an obsession!

I keep looking at my 350x parts bike and think about swapping the swinger and triples onto my 200 instead of trying for a restoration on both. But the 86 200 is so desirable now I’m not sure I want to mess with it either. That one may become a Show Queen.

Normally I’d say just do what you want, but you’re right, those 86 200's are getting really desirable. My “’83" is such a Frankenstein of parts that I feel no regret whatsoever in changing or modifying anything.

*I say “’83" because apart from the frame I don’t think any parts are actually original to the trike.
